Andrew read music at Trinity College, Cambridge, where he held a choral scholarship under the direction of the late Richard Marlow.

Since graduating in 2002, Andrew has performed with most of the UK’s most prestigious opera companies, including Opera North, Glyndebourne on Tour and Glyndebourne Festival Opera, WNO and The Royal Opera Covent Garden, in repertoire spanning the 17th to the 21st Centuries.  He has also sung with many of the UK’s most renowned ensembles in both the field of early music (AAM, OAE, Arcangelo) and in large-scale orchestral works (BBCSSO, LSO, Philharmonia) under conductors including Sir Colin Davis, Daniel Harding, Richard Egarr, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Edward Gardner and Martyn Brabbins, and in many important venues around Europe and the rest of the world.

A 2008 recording of Billy Budd (Squeak) with the LSO won the GRAMMY award for best opera recording, whilst Richard Jones’s new production of Katya Kabanova (Kudrjas) for The Royal Opera won the 2019 Olivier Award for best new opera production.

Andrew lives in north London with his wife and two young children, and enjoys teaching piano, singing and music theory to all ages and abilities.
