About Roger Vignoles...
ROGER VIGNOLES is one of Britain's foremost piano accompanists, known worldwide for his outstanding performances and recordings with many of the world's greatest singers and instrumentalists.  During a career that has already spanned more than 45 years, he has appeared at all the major musical venues, from Wigmore Hall to Carnegie Hall, from the Edinburgh Festival to the Vienna Musikverein.
Sir Thomas Allen, Olaf Bär, Kathleen Battle, Florian Boesch, Christine Brewer, Bernarda Fink, Susan Graham, Werner Güra, Robert Holl, Dame Kiri te Kanawa, Angelika Kirchschlager, Christopher Maltman, Mark Padmore, Miah Persson, Anne Schwanewilms, Elisabeth Soederstroem and Sarah Walker - these are only a few of the long list of singers with whom he has collaborated, while instrumental partners have included Pierre Fournier, Nobuko Imai, Ralph Kirshbaum, György Pauk, Heinrich Schiff and Dmitri Sitkovetsky.

His extensive discography covers a wide repertoire from Schubert and Schumann to Britten and Gershwin, and he was recently engaged on a complete series of Strauss Lieder for Hyperion records.  "Before Life and After", his recording with Mark Padmore of Britten's Winter Words and Holy Sonnets of John Donne, was awarded in 2009 both the prestigious Diapason d'Or and the Prix Caecilia.

About the day...

We strongly encourage the participation of singer/accompanist pairs, who will get the most out of this day. However, if you are a singer who does not have an accompanist, Karen Smith is the official accompanist. If you wish her to accompany you, it is very helpful if you contact her in advance (email: knjsmusic@hotmail.com) to let her know the title, composer and key of your song.

Participants will have the opportunity to perform two songs, each within a twenty minute slot. We encourage you to choose art-songs (e.g. German lieder, French mélodies, English song) rather than genres such as opera or musical.
Please bring a copy of your song for Roger Vignoles and one for Karen Smith if she is accompanying you.
There is plenty of space for observers who are guaranteed an interesting and abosrbing day.
